Dashain the 15-day-long national festival and holiday.
Dashain for Hindus is like Christmas to us.

The festival falls in September or October (Gregorian Calendar).

People return from all parts of the world, as well as different parts of the country, to celebrate together.
Public offices and schools are closed during this period.
Huge swings are built everywhere, children and young people fly kites and people play cards – either for fun or for money.
Animals such as buffalo and ducks are slaughtered as sacrifices.
